Enrolment

We welcome your interest!

Waikato Waldorf School is a special character composite school currently catering for children in Years 2-11.

A Year 12 class will be added in 2024, followed by a Year 13 class in 2025.

If you have a child just turning five or six years old they will need to enrol them at our kindergarten, Miro House.

In keeping with our special character, our Year 1 children are educated at Miro House kindergarten here on site.

The Enrolment Process

1. Parents/caregivers make contact with the school by submitting the form above. You will then be sent an Expression of Interest Form which needs to be completed outlining details about the student/s, the family, and their connection to the Waldorf special character.

2. On receipt of the Expression of Interest Form the school will arrange an appointment to meet with the Principal, along with a tour of the school.

3. If a space is available in the class, a student visit is arranged, usually for a morning, from 8.50am-12.40pm. If no space is available, the parents/caregivers will be offered a place on the waiting list for the appropriate class for their child.

4. Following the student visit, the Principal will contact the parents for a follow up discussion. Sometimes further visits may be arranged. If the school and parents/caregivers decide that the school is the right fit for the student/s, a Special Character Interview is arranged.

5. The Special Character Interview takes place between the Principal, a member of the Proprietor's Trust and the parents/caregivers. This is when we learn about the family and student in greater detail, outline how our school works and clarify what is expected from families in order to uphold the special character of our school and set their child/ren up for success.

6. Following this interview, a place at our school may be offered. If that is the case, an enrolment pack is sent to the parents/caregivers and an enrolment date is agreed.

The Pledge

Although the school is partially funded by the Ministry of Education, the Proprietors Trust are responsible for the development of the buildings and of the special character of the school.

To support all these elements that give our school its unique Steiner Waldorf character, the school operates via a donation system.  Each year every family completes a pledge form advising the charitable trust what the level of their donation will be.  Through the generosity of the parents, this pledge system has been operating successfully for many years and has allowed the school to flourish.
