“Our highest endeavour must be to develop free human beings who are able of themselves to impart purpose and meaning to their lives.”

Rudolf Steiner

“The heart of the Waldorf method is that education is an art – it must speak to the child’s experience.
To educate the whole child, his heart and his will must be reached, as well as the mind.”

Rudolf Steiner

About Steiner

Austrian philosopher Rudolf Steiner founded the first Waldorf school in Stuttgart, Germany, in 1919. Steiner believed that schools should address the needs of children rather than the demands of government or economic forces, so he developed schools that encourage creativity and free thinking. Those beliefs still resonate now, nearly 100 years later, with the result that Waldorf education is among the largest and fastest growing independent education movements in the world.

Waikato Waldorf School was founded in 1996 by a passionate group of individuals.  We have since grown to provide quality Waldorf Education to the Waikato Region, from Early Childhood through to Junior High.
